With our 2016 submission deadline (December 3rd) quickly approaching, we’re interviewing enthusiastic young artists who have been fantastic role models exploring, sharing and loving photography.

Meet Sydney (16), a young photographer who has been exploring with Imagine A Show for a number of years and whose photo was chosen as the cover of our 2014 book!

When did you first start taking photos?

I got my first camera for my tenth birthday and have been taking photos since!

Why do you enjoy taking photos?

I like how it’s an artistic way to express myself but still with a technical aspect.

What do you enjoy taking photos of?

I love nature and abstract photography.

What camera(s) do you use?

Canon T3

How did you first learn about Imagine A Show?

Word of mouth.

How long have you been involved?

I’ve been involved with imagine a show for 2 years!

What have you enjoyed about the project so far?

It motivates me to go out and work on my photography skills. Also many opportunities to speak about my work and imagine a show have been offered to me because of it.

Why should youth participate in Imagine A Show?

It’s a great chance to show off your hard work and receive recognition for it!

Do you have any tips for other young and aspiring photographers?

If you have a DSLR do your research and learn to shoot off auto. You will have far more control over how your photos turn out.
